Jack grew up in South Buffalo, NY graduating from Canisus High School and State Teacher College. He was a captain in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He trained with the special forces in the Marines which later became the SEALS. After the Korean war he became a special agent with the FBI, working in the south during the civil rights struggle. After he retired from the FBI in 1980 he became an investigator for a Richmond, VA law firm where he worked on many interesting cases. He had a long history of civic service to the Fredericksburg community as an officer, leader and member of many civic, religious and social organizations including St. Mary's Catholic Parish, Montfort Academy, the Optimist Club and the Greater Fredericksburg Sports Club.
